78th Independence Day Celebration

Indian School Sur marked the 78th Independence Day of India with a grand celebration on Thursday, August 15, 2024. The event was graced by distinguished guests including Chief Guest of the programme Mr. Jami Srinivas Rao, President of the School Management Committee, Dr. Ramkumar Lakshmi Narayanan, Convenor of SMC, Adv Saeed T P, Member of SMC, and Principal Dr. S Srinivasan.

The program commenced with a floral welcome to the chief guests, followed by a prayer and the singing of the Indian National Anthem. School Head Boy Mast. Amaan Amin delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the patriotic celebration.

The event featured a diverse array of performances showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage. Students presented speeches in English and Hindi, emphasizing the significance of the day. The school choir delivered a stirring group song, while a dance drama brought to life the stories of influential freedom fighters.

A highlight of the celebration was the patriotic group song competition organized by the Co-curricular Activities (CCA) team. The competition saw enthusiastic participation, with Blue, Green, and Yellow houses all receiving A+ grades for their performances. Mr. Jami Srinivas Rao, Dr. Ramkumar Lakshmi Narayanan, and Adv Saeed T P distributed prizes to the participants who scored various grades in the competition, recognizing their talent and effort.

The cultural program also included a captivating group dance that celebrated India’s diversity, and a multilingual song recital featuring melodies in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Bengali.

Dr. Ramkumar Lakshmi Narayanan delivered a special address, recalling the sacrifices of India’s great leaders and emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity. He quoted visionary leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, inspiring the audience with their words of wisdom.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by School Head Girl Harshita Chaudhary, expressing gratitude to all participants, artists, teachers, and staff members who contributed to the success of the celebration.
