National Education Day
Indian School Sur observed National Education Day 2024 with a special assembly, commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a pioneer of education in India. The assembly was a vibrant celebration of the importance of education in shaping the nation and empowering individuals. The program commenced with solemn prayer, a recitation of Rabindranath Tagore’s iconic poem, “Into That Heaven of Freedom, My Father, Let My Country Awake,” which set an inspiring tone for the event. Students then presented the day’s news headlines, highlighting significant educational advancements and achievements globally.
An enlightening speech by Ms. Adeeba Tazain of class IX, on the significance of National Education Day shed light on the contributions of Maulana Azad and the transformative power of education. This was followed by a melodious group song centered on the theme of education, which resonated deeply with the audience. One of the highlights of the event was a role-play that brought to life the contributions of great educationalists such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Rabindranath Tagore. Through this performance, the students emphasized the values and vision of these luminaries.
Adding a vibrant touch to the assembly was the special dance performance, “Rhythms & Scenes,” which creatively depicted how education inspires confidence and empowers individuals to achieve their dreams. The program also included an engaging educational quiz, which tested the audience’s knowledge about the history and development of education in India. The assembly concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, fostering a sense of unity and pride among the attendees. The event presided over by Principal Dr. S. Srinivasan and teachers, was a resounding success, instilling in students a renewed appreciation for education and its pivotal role in building a better future.
