Teachers’ Day Celebration 2026

A Teachers’ Day celebration was organised at Indian School, Sur, on 3 September 2026 by the students of Classes IX to XII to commemorate Teachers’ Day and to acknowledge the significant contribution of teachers to the academic and overall development of students. The programme provided an opportunity for students to express their appreciation for the guidance, encouragement and support provided by teachers.

The programme commenced with a prayer, providing a formal beginning to the celebration. The significance of Teachers’ Day and the role of teachers in the educational development of students were highlighted during the opening segment. Emphasis was placed on the contribution of teachers in developing critical thinking, perseverance, confidence, discipline and a sense of responsibility among students, as well as in guiding them beyond the academic requirements of the classroom.

As part of the observance, the Head Boy presented a Teachers’ Day card to the Principal, while the Head Girl presented a card to the Vice Principal, Mr. Biju Mathew. Cards were also presented to the teachers as a gesture of appreciation for their guidance, encouragement and continued support.

The cultural programme commenced with a group song presented by the students of Class IX, followed by a dance performance by the same class. A humorous skit was subsequently presented by the students, depicting familiar classroom situations and teacher–student interactions. The presentation acknowledged, in a light-hearted manner, the patience, commitment and responsibilities associated with the teaching profession.

The students of Class X presented a dance performance, demonstrating coordination and preparation. This was followed by a musical presentation by the students of Class XI, accompanied by an orchestra. The performance showcased their musical abilities, coordination and collaborative skills. The students of Class XII, comprising both boys and girls, presented dance performances that demonstrated preparation, confidence, coordination and artistic expression.

The programme also included the felicitation of the Omani staff in recognition of their contribution to and association with the school community. The felicitation acknowledged their role in supporting the functioning of the school and reflected the inclusive nature of the school community.

The formal programme concluded with expressions of appreciation towards the teachers for their guidance, encouragement and continued support in the students’ educational journey. A vote of thanks was proposed, acknowledging the contribution of the school leadership, teachers, support staff, student participants and all those involved in the organisation and conduct of the celebration. The Principal’s Address brought the formal programme to a close.

Following the conclusion of the formal programme, students of Class XII participated in a student-teacher activity from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. During this activity, they assumed the role of teachers and conducted classes for students from Classes I to XI. The activity provided the senior students with practical exposure to aspects of the teaching profession, including lesson preparation, communication, classroom management, time management and responsibility. It also enabled them to gain a better understanding of the responsibilities undertaken by teachers in the teaching-learning process.

A friendly handball match between the teachers and students was also conducted following the formal programme. The match provided an opportunity for teachers and students to interact in a sporting context and promoted teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship and mutual respect.

Overall, the Teachers’ Day celebration was conducted in an organised and purposeful manner. The formal programme enabled students to express their appreciation towards their teachers while providing opportunities to demonstrate creativity, communication, teamwork, confidence and organisational skills. The subsequent student-teacher activity offered experiential learning through an understanding of teaching responsibilities, while the handball match facilitated positive interaction between teachers and students. The active participation of students in the various activities contributed to the successful observance of Teachers’ Day and reinforced the importance of student participation in the academic, cultural and co-curricular life of the school.
