36th Annual Day Celebration

Indian School Sur hosted its 36th Annual Day Celebration with grandeur and enthusiasm at the Royal Hall, Sur, on January 20, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The event showcased the school’s achievements and vibrant cultural heritage, leaving an indelible impression on the audience.

The Chief Guest for the evening was Mr. Ali Mohammed Salim Al Masruri, Director, Administrative and Financial Affairs, Sur Municipality. The Guests of Honour included Mr. Krishnendhu S, Director, Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman and Director In-Charge of Indian School Sur; Mr. Mohammed Ali Musallam Al Alawi, Section Head, Department of Lands, Ministry of Education; and Dr. Kiran G. R., Senior Quality Assurance Expert, Oman Authority of Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education.

The occasion was graced by esteemed members of the School Management Committee, including President Mr. Jami Srinivasa Rao, Convener Dr. Ramkumar, Treasurer Mrs. Nishreen Basheer, and members Mr. Pradeep Kumar A. V, Advocate Saeed T. P., Mr. Shabeeb Mohammed, and Mr. Pramod Nair.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Nishreen Basheer, followed by a detailed Annual Report for the academic year 2024-25, presented by Dr. S. Srinivasan, Principal of Indian School Sur.

Dr. Kiran G. R., in his keynote speech, commended Indian School Sur for its exceptional contributions to education in Oman. He emphasized the importance of fostering global competencies while retaining cultural roots, stating that a school’s success lies not just in academic excellence but in the holistic development of its students, preparing them to be global citizens with strong ethical foundations. Adding to this, Mr. Krishnendhu S., in his address, appreciated the collaborative efforts of the school management, staff, and parents in creating a nurturing environment. He remarked that Indian School Sur stands as a beacon of excellence, integrating tradition and modernity to build a brighter future for the children, while also acknowledging the synergy among all stakeholders.

 

Delivering the Presidential Address, Mr. Jami Srinivasa Rao expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, and the entire school community for their unconditional support. He highlighted the importance of continuous improvement and innovation in education, urging the community to set their sights on the future and strive for greater heights in all spheres of education and community engagement. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mr. Shabeeb Mohammed.

A highlight of the event was the release of the School Anthem, written by Dr. Pradeep R. V., Academic Supervisor, with music composed by B. Unikrishnan, Music Teacher of Indian School Sur.

The evening also celebrated remarkable achievements. The prestigious “Student of the Year Award” was presented to Ms. Harshita Chaudhary of Class XII, who received a gold coin sponsored by Mr. Mohammad Ameen, Managing Director of Sea Pride LLC. In the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Awards, Yellow House secured the Overall Trophy, with Blue House emerging as runners-up. Long- serving staff members were honored with Long Service Awards, recognizing over a decade of dedicated service. Academic excellence was celebrated with awards for class toppers from Classes III to IX & XI, including notable achievers like Karthik S. Pillai (Class III) Aadil Kurian Varghese (Class IV), Injila Ahmadi (Class V), Helna Joseph (Class VI) Lohan Pareek (Class VII), Pallavi Abhilash Nair (VIII), Uthara Abhilash Nair (Class IX) Kshetragya Pareek (XI Science) and Aaliya Sardar Ibrahim (XI Commerce). Teachers were also acknowledged for their exceptional guidance, helping students achieve full marks in Class Xth CBSE board examinations 2023-24.

The event concluded with a series of mesmerizing cultural performances, including a Nature Dance by KG students, a Theme Dance by primary students, and captivating acts such as semi-classical and folk dances, western hip-hop, Knee Ballet, and Desi Groove. These performances showcased the creativity and talent of the students, leaving the audience enthralled. The Annual Day Celebration underscored Indian School Sur’s commitment to academic brilliance and cultural vibrancy, fostering a thriving community of excellence and creativity, and stood as a testament to the collaborative spirit of the school management, staff, students, and parents.
