Playground Inauguration & Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of MPH

Indian School Sur marked a significant milestone in its history with the grand inauguration of its new playground and the foundation stone laying ceremony for its upcoming Multipurpose Hall and Additional Classrooms. The event, which took place on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 4:30 PM, saw a gathering of proud parents, enthusiastic students, and distinguished dignitaries.

The ceremony commenced with the foundation stone laying for the Multipurpose Hall and Additional Classrooms, officiated by Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman. This was followed by a plaque unveiling ceremony, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in the school’s development.

A highlight of the evening was the inauguration of the school’s long-awaited playground. Mr. Syed Salman, Vice-Chairman & Director In-Charge of Indian School Sur, had the honor of cutting the ribbon to officially open the playground. The ceremony also featured a symbolic balloon released by Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, representing the soaring aspirations of the school community.

In his address, Dr. Sivakumar Manickam emphasized the crucial role of playgrounds in a child’s holistic development. He commended the efforts of the current and previous School Management Committees, the principal, parents, and all stakeholders for their contributions to the school’s progress. Dr. Manickam notably referred to Indian School Sur as “a jewel among all the Indian schools in Oman,” highlighting its significance in the community.

Mr. Jami Srinivas Rao, President of the School Management Committee, presented a detailed report on the construction of the playground. He emphasized the school’s commitment to providing its students with a playground of their own, recognizing the vital need for infrastructure development that supports the holistic growth of students. Mr. Rao expressed heartfelt gratitude to the school’s Principal, Dr. S. Srinivasan, for being the torchbearer of progress at Indian School Sur. He also extended thanks to the Board of Directors, both past and present School Management Committee members, and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful culmination of this initiative.

Mrs. Nishreen Basheer, Treasurer of the School Management Committee, delivered a warm welcome address, setting a positive tone for the evening’s proceedings.

The School Management Committee, led by Mr. Jami Srinivas Rao (President), Dr. Ramkumar Lakshmi Narayanan (Convenor), Mrs. Nishreen Basheer (Treasurer), and members Mr. Pradeep Kumar A V, Mr. Saeed T P, Mr. Shabeeb Mohammed, and Mr. Pramod V Nair, were in attendance, along with Dr. S Srinivasan, the Principal of Indian School Sur, who has been instrumental in the school’s ongoing development.

The ceremony featured a variety of cultural performances, including welcome dances, group songs, yoga demonstrations, and an Olympic-themed dance. A special performance highlighting India’s glory in global sports captivated the audience, while aerobics and human pyramid showcases demonstrated the students’ athleticism and teamwork.

The event concluded with an exciting football match between parents and students. Dr. Sivakumar Manickam kicked off the game, and Mr. Nidheesh Kumar P.P., Finance Director of Indian Schools in Oman, blew the whistle to start the match. In a thrilling contest, the students emerged victorious, and both the winners and runners-up were awarded trophies.

Dr. Ramkumar L N, Convenor of the School Management Committee, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event and the school’s progress.

This momentous occasion marks a significant step forward for Indian School Sur, promising enhanced facilities for its students and reinforcing its commitment to providing a well-rounded education. The new playground stands as a testament to the school’s dedication to promoting physical activity and holistic development among its students.
