32nd Annual Sports Meet
The 32nd Annual Athletic Meet of Indian School Sur unfolded its grandeur at the Sur Sports Complex on the 3rd and 4th of December 2023. The two-day spectacle commenced with a mesmerizing opening ceremony, graced by the presence of the esteemed chief guest, Mr. Khalid Bin Hamad Al Orimi, Asst. Director of Sur Sports Complex along with Mr. Jami Srinivasa Rao, President; Dr. Ramkumar, Convener, Mr. Pradeep, Convener, SMC. The inaugural festivities were marked by the impressive march past of the four houses, led by their respective house captains carrying the proud flags. Following this, a torch run ensued, culminating in the ceremonial lighting of the flame, orchestrated by the house sports captains and the school’s sports secretary. The opening ceremony’s welcome address was eloquently delivered by the sports secretary, Master Shahadhat, setting the tone for an eventful two-day extravaganza. Day one showcased riveting performances by the school’s emerging athletes, as track events unfolded with precision and flair. The events were organized in two sessions, a morning session from 7 AM to 11 AM, and an evening session from 3 PM to 6 PM.
The first day’s highlights included the gripping finals of the eight hundred meter race across all categories. The second day, however, took center stage with a remarkable display of tenacity and stamina in the three thousand meter long-distance run, performed by the marathoners. The final session and closing ceremony were graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Khalid Ali Saod Ali al Jabari, Maintenance Head of the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sports. The ceremony, made auspicious by the participation of the school’s management committee members, including Mr. Jami Srinivasa Rao, President; Mr. Pardeep, Convener; and Mrs. Nishreen Basheer, Member, SMC, featured the march past of the four houses, followed by captivating mass yoga demonstration by parents and students. As Mr. Khalid Ali Saod Ali al Jabari lowered the flag and officially declared the conclusion of the sports meet, the prize distribution ceremony took center stage. The Blue house, propelled by the exceptional sporting prowess of its members, clinched both the championship trophy and the athletics trophy for the 32nd Annual Athletic Meet of Indian School Sur. The Green house secured the trophy for the best team in games, while the Red house claimed the trophy for the best march past.
Individual champions in all categories were duly recognized with trophies and medals. Mast. Sidhharth Pradeep of class eleven was celebrated as the fastest athlete among senior boys, while Miss. Prianthi Barua of class twelve earned the title of the fastest athlete among senior girls. Uthara Abhilash Nair of class nine was honored with the prestigious title of the best athlete of the year 2023-24, acknowledging her exceptional track record in both inter and intra-school sporting events. The curtains gracefully fell on the 32nd Annual Athletic Meet of Indian School Sur as the school captain, Head Girl, Miss Kirthana C. S, ceremoniously handed over the school flag to Principal Dr. S. Srinivasan, marking the conclusion of a spectacular sporting extravaganza.
