Earth Day Celebration

Indian School Sur celebrated Earth Day on April 22, 2025, with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation from students of Classes I to XII. The event, held during the school assembly, was organised by the Department of Science under the guidance of Dr. Pradeep R V, In-Charge of the Science Department. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Gayathri and Mrs. Praseetha, who ensured enthusiastic participation from both senior and primary sections of the school.
The theme for this year’s celebration was “Our Power, Our Planet”, highlighting the collective responsibility we all share in preserving our environment.
The day’s programme commenced with an Introductory Speech by Sriharsh of Class IX B, followed by an Earth Day Pledge led by Alina Riaz of Class X B. Students of Classes III and IV presented vibrant Earth Day Slogans, while Classes V to VII sang a melodious Earth Day Song that inspired awareness and action.
The young learners of Classes I and II stole the show with an energetic Earth Day Action Song, and the event was further enriched by an engaging Earth Day Quiz conducted by Abigail of Class IX A. A powerful and thought-provoking Earth Day Play was enacted by students from Classes X and XI—Lekshmi Nair, Shivanee Senthil Kumar, Ansa Joseph, and Fathima Marwa—bringing alive the importance of environmental stewardship.
A special highlight of the programme was the Plant-for-Planet Initiative, inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. S Srinivasan. Over 92 students from the primary section (up to Class VII) voluntarily came forward to express their commitment to environmental protection by presenting saplings, symbolising their sense of responsibility towards a greener planet. The Principal graciously accepted the saplings, upholding the spirit of a green environment and delivering a powerful message on the importance of nurturing nature.
The stunning backdrop for the celebration, created by Mr. Dineshan, the school’s Art teacher, added a splash of colour and creativity, making the entire event visually splendid.
The Science Department teachers played a vital role in making the programme a grand success through their committed efforts, teamwork, and wholehearted participation.
The Earth Day celebration at Indian School Sur was a resounding success, embodying the school’s commitment to fostering environmental consciousness under the visionary leadership of the Principal, Dr. S. Srinivasan.
