GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATION

“If humanity is to progress, Gandhi is inescapable. He lived, thought, and acted, inspired by the vision of humanity evolving toward a world of peace and harmony. We may ignore him at our own risk.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

Indian School Sur conducted Gandhi Jayanti Celebration on 2nd October 2022. The presence of all the teachers and students of Indian School Sur marked the programme. The programme commenced with a prayer song, which was followed by a speech on the life and teachings of Gandhiji by students of class VI. The next event in the celebration was a patriotic song on the country’s cultural diversity. This was followed by a skit depicting Gandhi’s life, history and principles to inculcate moral values among the children, presented by classes V and VI. The performance portrayed four stages of Gandhiji’s life- trust in God, truth, nonviolence and the Dandi March. One of the students of class VI dressed up as Gandhi, emulating a historical message given by Gandhi on the Dandi March. The students of ISS also brought into the stage their dancing talent by stepping to the tune of a folk song. A patriotic medley song ensued, which was performed in ten different languages. The Principal, Dr S. Srinivasan, delivered the keynote address speaking on the relevance of the day and its message. The programme concluded with a general vote of thanks given by Grade VI students.
