80th Independence Day Celebrations
Indian School Sur observed the 80th Independence Day of India with solemn reverence, patriotic fervor, and an elaborate presentation celebrating institutional milestones and student excellence. The programme commenced with the mandatory Health and Safety Protocol briefing for all attendees. The formal inaugural segment was marked by the esteemed presence of dignitaries, including Chief Guest Mr. Pramod Nair, Treasurer of the School Management Committee, and Mr. Taki Ahmed, Chair Academic, alongside Principal Mr. Parveen Kumar. Following a ceremonial green welcome, the gathering rose in solidarity for the National Anthems of the Sultanate of Oman and India, transitioning into a reflective prayer song rendered by the school choir to invoke divine blessings.
The formal proceedings featured an inspiring series of student and leadership addresses. Head Boy Master Sarvesh Krishna set the tone for the morning with his Welcome Address, followed by thought-provoking student elocutions including an English speech by Miss Zainab Sahar of Class VIII B, a Hindi speech by Master Tamid of Class VIII A, and an original patriotic poem penned and recited by Miss Fadila Kulsum of Class XI. In his address to the school community, Principal Mr. Parveen Kumar highlighted the institution’s commitment to holistic development, educational harmony, and academic rigor. The stage events were complemented by rich cultural performances, notably a multilingual Patriotic Fusion Song, a historical drama skit portraying national sacrifices, and dynamic patriotic dance routines presented by students across the primary and middle school grades. Head Girl Miss Fathima Marwa formally expressed institutional gratitude in the Vote of Thanks.
A key highlight of the event was the comprehensive LED Wall presentation commemorating outstanding student achievements across national, regional, and international forums. The Embassy of India Independence Day Competitions saw remarkable participation, with Miss Aayda Shamshad Khan securing first place in Category I Quiz and second place in Painting, alongside top honors earned by Miss Alisha Bhatia in Category II Quiz, Master Reyansh Sinha in Category I Painting, and Miss Vedashree Konade in Category II Painting. Academic rigor was prominently showcased through the CBSE 2025–26 Board Examination toppers, recognizing Class X rank holders Master Sanjay Krishna, Master Rishab Kumar, Master Ashwin Prashant, and Miss Nakshathira, alongside Class XII Science topper Master Eshant Kumar and Commerce topper Master Shreyas Srinivasan.
The presentation further highlighted distinguished international accolades, including Miss Shivanya Prashanth of Class VIII for her Guinness World Record in endurance roller/inline skating while hula hooping, who was slated for special felicitation by His Excellency the Ambassador. Institutional mentors and students were recognized for global competitive triumphs, including Master Shahiduzzaman and Miss Sabia Rahman in the International Islamic Economics Olympiad guided by Dr. Remadevi T. C., as well as Master Devansh Baruah and Miss Safoorah for securing top positions in the Jashn-e-Azaadi Worldwide Inter-School India Quiz under the training of Mrs. Parvathy Babu and Mrs. Remya K. N. The ceremonial event concluded with the rendition of the School Anthem.
