Earth Day Celebration

The Earth Day celebrations at Indian School Sur on April 22nd, 2024, were marked by a series of engaging and informative activities aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and teachers, making it a resounding success.

The event commenced with a solemn Earth Day pledge, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to protecting and preserving the planet, with a primary focus on reducing plastic pollution. This pledge set a serious and dedicated tone for the day’s events. A captivating dramatic presentation followed, highlighting the history and significance of Earth Day and showcasing its evolution and impact over the years. Pluck cards were used to depict past accomplishments of Earth Day celebrations, complemented by meaningful songs in the background, creating a powerful and emotional narrative.

Students showcased their creativity and enthusiasm through a vibrant song and dance performance themed around environmental conservation. The lively performance resonated with the audience, effectively conveying the message of sustainability in an engaging and memorable manner. Adding to the day’s significance, a thought-provoking speech was delivered, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing pressing environmental issues. An interactive quiz tested participants’ knowledge about Earth Day history, environmental facts, and conservation efforts. The quiz served as both an educational tool and a fun activity, encouraging active participation and learning. In addition to the assembly programme, several other activities were organized throughout the day to promote environmental awareness and creativity.

A tailored awareness programme was conducted for primary students (Classes I to IV) by senior students of Std IX to XII. This programme focused on age-appropriate environmental topics and fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature. It included thought-provoking role plays, informative PowerPoint and video presentations, and a quiz. Students of Std VII & VIII showcased their artistic talents by creating eco-friendly crafts using recycled materials. These visually appealing creations served as a reminder of the importance of sustainable practices in everyday life. Students of Std V & VI engaged in the preparation of informative flip cards featuring key environmental facts, tips for conservation, and inspiring quotes. These cards were distributed among attendees as handy reference guides for promoting eco-friendly habits.
